In project management land, the AI smarts in tools like Asana and Notion are increasing discoverability of features (eg. Notion AI suggested adding a 'shoot location' custom field when I asked it to setup a basic photography project tracker), but you have to be wary of accepting all suggestions and bloating your data 😬
Ooh fun question. They’re totally capable of some aspects (eg. automated reporting, like pulling together a summary of completed work, in progress and blocked for this week) and apparently can scout risks too, but limited by the information they have. So much (most??) of the project manager role is the human side —sensing, negotiating, pivoting— and I’m not sure the cost/benefit would add up, if you had to somehow give them all that emotive data (to consider when weighing things up).
So my answer is: they could be a rad assistant/teammate but not a total replacement. What’s yours?
There are many ways to easily make an AI Agent without coding, such as N8N. But I do believe a marketplace for AI agents is a promising future trend. The only blocker I can see is that while most organizations find that they need to integrate with AI, a lot of them still don't know how to effectively do it. Many companies out there are still paying high fees to make sure their AI integration fixes a need or bottlenect.
I'm starting to learn about AI now, so I asked Gemini to recommend what I needed to study. From what I've read about so far, but haven't tried to make one yet, an assistant like yours is what I really want to create. Right now I use AI it for research, and translation (English-Portuguese). I publish my newsletter in both languages, so I have my essay AI-translated. It still requires important editing, but I think it's awesome. AI translation changed my life: I've translated a lot, I hate translating, but I'm a good translator editor.

Interested in your take on if AI agents with access to Notion and Email could become project managers. Would anyone listen to them?

Great post! Thank you for sharing and inspiring us to explore them!

Ooh see this is a really perfect example of how I think we will become more like an editor or a creative director. Refining the drafts made by AI.
Really enjoyed the read, and I totally agree, the age of AI agents is here.
Also, thanks for the reminder about n8n, it’s been sitting on my “to-try” list for way too long!
Thanks so much for the read! Yeah give it a go, there are a few good youtube videos too that run you through the basics
